Coming up: buyers preparing to tender

Planned procurements and market engagement notices. These are the moment to talk to the buyer, before the tender is written.

Recently awarded

The market in numbers

In the last 12 months our data shows 347 cleaning contracts awarded by UK public buyers, with a median published value of £600k. The typical contract runs for about 3 years. The buyers awarding the most: Worcestershire County Council, Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation, Astrea Academy Trust.

What buyers often ask for

Buyers commonly ask for health and safety accreditation such as CHAS or SafeContractor, trained staff (for example, BICSc courses) and, on larger contracts, ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. When a cleaning contract changes hands, the staff usually transfer to the new contractor under TUPE. Requirements vary from contract to contract: the tender documents are the final word.
